International Center for Island Studies, Amami Station, Kagoshima University was established on April 1, 2015 to elucidate and preserve the diversity maintenance mechanism as a culturally, socially, and biologically diverse region in the Amami Islands, which is also registered as a World Natural Heritage site in 2021.
